The lining of the suit was a new self.

I put it on piece by piece.

First grace, and practiced ease; then charm

and more sophisticated tastes.

A firm handshake, a lazy smile,

wholesome banter to buy costly laughs.

No piece was out of place.

 

The suit, at least, still walks, and talks, and breathes.

I left no place for any piece of me.
